So while I rule Munster I only hold Thomond while my Vassals hold Ormond and Desmond. It then explains that as a ruler I can only hold so much land on my own so I need Vassals to hold titles on other land within my borders.

Thomond looks to be the County and Munster is a Kingdom consisting of 3 Counties – Ormond, Thomond and Desmond. We are shown information about ourselves which shows that we are the Petty King Murchad mac Donnchad of Munster as our primary title is the Petty King of Munster, we also have another title showing as Earldom of Thomond. The first part of the tutorial explains the basic navigation and about tool tips before talking about the game and explains everything takes place on the map in which the world consists of large and small pieces of land that each belongs to someone based on their titles. The tutorial game starts in the year 1066, a year ingrained into me during history at school as we learned about the Battle of Hastings, in fact we start just a month before that real life battle. The tutorial starts by informing me that there is no one way to win in Crusader Kings, only different ways to enjoy the story which is one of the main reasons the game and it’s predecessor intrigued me, I read about some interesting play throughs in CK2. Having been intrigued by CK2, CK3 also got my interest and I was contemplating whether to just buy it or wait when I saw on Reddit that the game was on Xbox Game Pass which I already have so I’ve downloaded it and can give it a go for no extra cost.Īs I’ve no idea what to do, I jumped into the tutorial to try and work out how to play the game.

The reason I didn’t want to buy it was that I got Crusader Kings 2 and while the game intrigued me I couldn’t really get into it, it was very complicated and I lacked the patience to play it long enough to understand it.

Crusader Kings 3 has just been released and I wanted to try it but I didn’t want to buy it for I think around £45.
